Mexico and Costa Rica went at it giving expectators a great game, yet it lacked goals....

A first half full of plays and shots to goal, but every play was matched by the opponent.

Costa Rica came close to scoring and so did Mexico on many times their top players came up with plays that left expectators awed,

yet to come up empty handed by the end of the first half ....

Mexican and Costa Rica where disputing the lead of group A, Both teams have had a great tournament so far with Mexico lagging at times but always catching up .

Second half seem to have the same rythm as first half, filled with great plays and no results, most of the shots produced where blocked by this great golies that fircelly defended their goal post.

it was just about the end of the game at minute  86' Santi Gimenez of Mexico saw an opportunity and he took it, with an incredible chilena he scored the goal that would make the difference. Everything seem fine and the fans where enjoying the long awaited goal from one of the favourite mexican players.

yet it all came crashing down with referee had to check the VAR due to some issues with the goal, at this point after the referee came back he could have very well applied the criteria he already had applied and allow the goal.

Note that , CONCACAF rules says that it only counts as deliberate play if the player:

  • Made a pass to another teammate

  • Controlled the ball

  • Cleared the ball

at minute 94' referee Mario Escobar called an outside play and annouled the goal, once again setting the score back to 0-0

at this point it was the end of the game and the start of the controversy.

What do you think?
